We had a very interesting book club meeting yesturday. Many topics (and tangents) were brought to the table. :)


Some of the topics included:

- 20 Tips From a Master (Hubertus Scmidit)

- Win Accuracy Points (by Jon Costin)

- Man O' War

- Trot, Pony!

- Mirrors in stalls (and the research that is done)

- The Perfect Horse (Historic book regarding horse related events/breeding around WW2)

- Local carriage horses and politics

- MeToo movement

- Rolkur and the verical and what does that mean?

- In front of the leg?

We had a fun movie club today! We watched Racing Stripes and Dressage in Detail Part 1 with Dr. Reiner Klimke. Which looking in more details in warmups, and loosening the horse. But most importantly talked about how we aim to make the horse more flexible and expressive. And demonstrates this with transitions.

We had a phenomenal book club meeting yesterday! :) Thank you to everyone that participated. There was so many great topics brought to the table. Including: a child's story "Lost and Found" about a donkey getting lost on a boat; An interesting article by Alayne Blickle about "Recycling Compost as Horse Bedding" and different types of horse beddings and benefits; Lunging,building confidence, adding obstacles and working with arena boredness; Goal setting; Horses' nature instincts ... flight or fight; An article by Antonia Henderson looking at understanding equine personality, "A mind for the Job"; Some top stallions including Negro, De Niro, Sandro Hit, Don Federico and Donnerhall; An article on Cindy Ishoy and the intensive training that top riders go through; And the organization 'Cornerstone' not hosting shows at Palgrave anymore.

Once again thank you everyone for their participation!


For those that did not have a chance to come out, just remember this is a free event that we do once a month. We just gather together and talk about anything interesting that we read throughout the month.

Today we had our first movie club meeting. It went really well. We got to relax together and enjoy some snacks. Today we watched 'Inside Out' (as we have been talking about horse's emotions) and 'Basic Dressage Training for the Rider' by Susanne Miesner and Johann Hinnemann. We can't wait till next month's meeting.

Our first Movie Club meeting is only a couple days away! 
We will be meeting in the viewing room on Sunday at 1 pm. 

Our first movie will not be that horsey. We will be watching Inside Out. As some of our junior riders have been learning about horses' emotions, and this movie will relate to their homework. Our second film will be a VHS on Basic Dressage. 

It is a free event but we are encouraging a snack pot luck!

We had a wonderful Book Club meeting yesterday. We covered some very interesting topics, including: the upcoming World Equestrian Games, inspection days at international shows, a short story about a last ride with a horse, the unique days of older horses, forward thinking and how to help horses with lunging and gaining confidence, equine therapy and how this animal and talk therapy is used with military men, youth and anger management.

We had a very successful first book club meeting at the new barn! We also came up with some great plans for the New Year. And we started to orgainze our Junior Writes :)

We had a very interesting book club meeting today. We looked at topics surrounding poisonous plants, horse behaviours, creating a basic first aid kit and the basics in riding (rhythm, suppleness and contact). Thank you to everyone who participated!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Rock Party today! The ring looks much better. Also today we had our Book Club meeting, everyone brought very interesting topics; topics including healthy horse, signs of colic, proper warm-ups and cool downs, barrel racing pattern, smooth transitions, how to to hold the reins, and the unwritten rules in Training Level and First Level.

Also this month's rider's fitness will focus on our hips.
